Participation in Roanoke Valley Events.
We need to plan ahead to get involved in community activities. We missed the opportunity to be a part of Festival in the Park in May. We want to be involved in GoFest in October. The Red Cross has been asked about participating in the Floyd County Preparedness Fair. We might consider being a part of that.
May Program meeting: building foxhunt antennas
Ben KK4EWT Williams will lead the activity. We need to find out who will want to participate so we can buy the equipment needed. Individuals attending can then purchase the kits from us instead of having to get the parts on their own. Ben will provide a list of parts that will be put on the website.
Ben will not be at the June Business Meeting. Marty will run the computer
Field Day June 27-28. There will be no program meeting on June 26. At the field day we will hold a foxhunt.
Treasurers report
We need an audit for the 2025 year’s finances. Doug plans for May 23. Will need 2 people to do it with him.
Ben bought a Starlink Mini, to use for testing people for licenses, and can use the internet on trips and for events like the Blue Ridge Bonanza.
Auction:
Had a lot of items, big and little. George was a significant buyer. Thank you, George. Doug will provide the financial details on Friday.
Hamfest:
ARRL confirmed our Hamfest application and accepted our request for gift certificates.
Michael Amoni or Ed Gibbs from ARRL will be coming in person to the Hamfest.
Venders: Reliance antennas has accepted. Ben reached out to Gold Metal Ideas but they are still considering their schedule. Anyone can reach out to other vendors.
The RVARC Banner:
The banner has not been located. We will ask one more time for members with club supplies to look for it, but will go ahead and create a new banner for purchase and present the idea to the club.
Problems with email:
Linda has had problems accessing the RVARC Youtube account and Canva account because of the switching of the RVARC gmail account back to Doug. It appears the gmail cannot handle 2 separate people accessing it. Ben suggested creating a new Gmail account using w4ca@gmail. But that doesn’t work for the 501(c)(3) requirements. William proposed exploring Gmail delegate accounts. He will send information on that to Doug and Linda.
New page on the website for sales:
Linda created the Trading Post page for people to post items for sale or items they are searching for. We will present the page to the club at the meeting.
Membership Digital Purchase:
Doug will try to get the PayPal account set up before Friday.
