Auction April 25
We have reserved the Red Cross auditorium Ben and Doug are lead. Mike needs to bring his audio system. Fred is going to contact Lloyd to be auctioneer. If he can’t, Ben will be auctioneer. Several people have donated supplies to the auction.
Hamfest: ARRL confirmed our Hamfest application and accepted request for gift certificates.
Michael Amoni or Ed Gibbs from ARRL will be coming in person to the hamfest.
Venders: Reliance antennas has accepted. Ben reached out to Gold Metal Ideas but they are still considering their schedule. Anyone can reach out to other vendors.
Field Day: June Will be held at Virginia Western. They are putting together the paperwork for us, We will use Lot 14 up on the hill. Although we would be visible to more people in the parking lot by Colonial Ave, the upper field has more protection from the sun. We are the only group that the college allows to have an overnight event due to the importance of ham radio in emergencies.
Trustee application: we have not received a reply yet.
Dayton Hamvention: Marty will be attending for the first time. Ben will also be attending. They will work together in deciding what items to purchase at the Hamvention to use as door prizes at our Hamfest. We will need a budget approval for these purchases.
Digital Payments: Marty presented an AI comparison of Paypal and Square. Based on this, we suggest using Paypal for the website membership payments and continue to use square for in-person credit card purchases. Doug will try to locate the Square credit card machine. If not able to find it, he will purchase a replacement. Paypal offers free machines to 501c3 organizations, which could serve as a backup. Setting Paypal up for digital purchases will have to be done after our bank account gets updated. Member One Credit Union is merging with Virginia Credit Union, requiring new account numbers. This will be fixed in 2 weeks, at which time we can create a Paypal account to the new number.
RVARC banner: Last seen was at the registration table at the Hamfest. No one has been able to locate it. If it isn’t located we need to discuss purchasing a new canopy.
Zoom issues: Linda brought up member complaints about the zoom connection during meetings. Having better camera direction on the person speaking, and asking those speaking to speak up better will hopefully improve the zoom Side conversations in the room make a more sensitive microphone more of a problem than a help. Linda will be available on chat if anyone on zoom wants to point out a problem. We can also try to repeat the question or response from those in attendance. We need to improve our etiquette during the meetings.
