RVARC Board Meeting Minutes March 10, 2026
Board Members Present: President Martin K4EQS Rosendale Vice President Ben KK4EWT Williams Treasurer Doug N4MGW Kabler Secretary Linda KQ4VGS Cheek Director Tom W4TKW Wilcox
Quick recap
The board meeting focused on two main topics: payment processing options for the club and HamFest planning.
Question about Board Meeting Minutes
Linda asked if minutes should be taken during Board meeting. The board agreed that minutes should be taken and posted on the website. Marty introduced us to AI Companion for taking notes on the meeting.
Financial reviewby Doug N4MGW Kabler: there are no immediate requests.
Online Payment System: The board members present voted unanimously to approve a motion that the club will implement a technology and process to accept online payments and digital or credit card payments at club events. TDoug will review Paypal vs Square for online membership payment. Some questions about the ability of Paypal to record the person making the payment for record purposes. We will do some more review of these two methods, inquiring of small business owners about their experience with both, and be better informed for presentation to the club at the April business meeting.
HamFest Venue Marty reported two potential options under consideration: Virginia Western Community College and the Roanoke Fire and EMS Training Facility. Martin scheduled a meeting with the battalion chief at the Fire and EMS facility to assess its suitability, and promised to provide an update at Friday’s meeting.
Linda inquired about the legality of an organization like theirs selling food, but Virginia Health Department rules prohibit this.
Trustee appointment
We will decide on a new trustee for the repeater at the Friday meeting. Marty will research the application process through the FCC.
Program for the March 27 meeting: TBD
April Auction
A family estate donation of radio equipment to the club will be added to the auction
Newsletter
Linda asked for the newsletter to be added to the agenda for Friday to get possible submissions by members.
