2025 USA Cycling Endurance Mountain Bike Nat’l Championship Race

RVARC participated in the 2025 USA Cycling Endurance Mountain Bike National Championships on July 14. The race started at Hollins University and wove through the mountains, around Carvins Cove, and finished at Hollins University.  We had 3 stations and two rovers.  Stations were at Hollins University Command Center, The Red Barn, and the boat dock at Carvins Cove.  Mike K2JML Luger was the organizer of this event. We helped with communication so that the bikers could be followed throughout the trail and finish the race safely.  That’s what amateur radio is about–helping out where needed in the community.

Here are some pictures:

From Pat N3AYW at Boat Dock:

All comms were done with HTs.  Only needed 2 -4 watts by using a tactical ground plane ( vertical antenna on stand )      Good location.    How do you like our carpet ?  It’s actually the shadow from canopy – the sun was very bright.
